Compliance and Ethics: Ideas & Answers began as an initiative led by Joe Murphy, one of the longest-established and most respected voices in the compliance and ethics field.
Joe is an author, speaker, and long-time contributor to the profession, known for advancing key discussions and providing practical guidance to both new and experienced compliance professionals. The original vision behind Ideas & Answers was to create a regular publication that not only shared insights, but also brought together diverse expert perspectives from across the global compliance and ethics community.
Today, Ideas & Answers is guided by an editorial team that includes Joe Murphy, Rebecca Walker, Jeffrey Kaplan, and Adam Balfour. A distinctive and valued part of the publication is the weekly storytelling contributed by Karen M. Leet, whose reflective pieces bring a human dimension to the work of compliance and ethics professionals. Together, the editors and contributors curate thoughtful, practical content that reflects the evolving needs of the profession. In addition to the core team, we regularly publish contributions from experienced practitioners and industry experts from around the world.
What began as a LinkedIn newsletter has grown into a widely followed publication with thousands of subscribers. In addition to LinkedIn, Ideas & Answers is available as a website and as a direct email newsletter, allowing readers to stay connected in the format that works best for them.
Our articles address the full spectrum of compliance and ethics topics — including training, risk assessment, conflicts of interest, incentives, governance, investigations, speak-up culture, and program effectiveness. We reflect on regulatory developments, industry guidance, significant enforcement actions, and major news stories that impact the field. We also highlight new publications and industry events that shape professional dialogue.
Alongside serious analysis and practical guidance, we believe there is room for reflection — and occasionally, a lighter touch. Karen’s stories, featured regularly, explore the human side of compliance work — the pressures, the dilemmas, the courage, and the purpose that define this profession.
If you would like to join our growing global community of compliance and ethics professionals, we invite you to subscribe to the newsletter. We welcome your engagement and your voice in the ongoing conversation.
