Rebecca Walker is a partner in the Santa Monica, California office of Kaplan & Walker LLP, a law firm dedicated exclusively to counseling organizations regarding compliance and ethics programs. For over twenty-five years, Rebecca has specialized in compliance and ethics law. She has helped hundreds of companies design compliance programs tailored to their legal risks and business needs and that conform to applicable government standards.
Jeff Kaplan, retired, is a founding partner in Kaplan & Walker LLP, a law firm dedicated exclusively to compliance and ethics. For over thirty years, Jeff specialized in assisting companies in developing, implementing and reviewing ethics and compliance programs. This work has included conducting risk assessments; writing/editing codes of conduct and other policy documents; counseling companies in matters regarding training; developing compliance audit protocols and reporting systems; establishing compliance/ethics offices; and assisting boards of directors in meeting their fiduciary duties under the Caremark case. He has also conducted numerous program assessments.
Adam Balfour is on a mission to help make ethics and compliance more relatable and relevant for his fellow human beings. He likes to design ethics and compliance programs that employees can actually relate to, engage with, and find useful. Originally from Scotland, Adam worked for a number of years as an attorney for two international law firms in New York before moving to Nashville where he currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel for Corporate Compliance and Data Privacy (including the Americas, Europe, Middle East & Africa) for a global manufacturing company.
Writing has always been central to Karen M. Leet’s identity, shaping who she is, who she has been, and who she will always be. She wrote her first “book” at the age of ten, a story about horses, reflecting a lifelong love of animals of all kinds.
Over the years, writing has remained essential to her. Her work spans fiction, articles and poetry for readers of all ages. Her published books include Sarah’s Courage, a middle-grade novel from The History Press, as well as a co-authored nonfiction Civil War title, also published by The History Press.
