Where You Going?

by Karen M. Leet

Are you a “goal driven” person? Do you have plans for the future? Do you have goals and dreams for the future? Do you have ideas of who you are now and who you want to be?

Where are you going and how will you get there? Here are a few ideas to get you started on thinking what you want for your future.

  1. Who are you now? What do you want to do or be? How would you like to change?
  2. Do you like to make plans ahead? Do you work out all the details for your plans? Do you make lists? Maybe a list of how to get to where you want to be?
  3. Do you consider yourself goal focused? Why or why not?
  4. Do you make lists for each day or week or year? Do you actually do the things on your list? Do you ever cheat and change the list?
  5. What is important to you? Is health important to you? Or education? Or interpersonal relationships? What matters most to you?
  6. Do you want change? If so, what kind? Big changes like moving to another state? Or small changes like wearing a color you never wore before?
  7. Do you like changes? Enjoy them? Feel eager for them?
  8. Do you hate changes? Do you resist change of any kind? Why or why not?
  9. Are your plans large or small? Do you consider changing a hair style a big or small change? Why?
  10. Do you enjoy surprises? Why or why not? How can you plan your days, weeks, months or years to either avoid changes or welcome them?
  11. Where do you see yourself next week? Next month? Next year?
  12. What would you do if you suddenly won a million dollars? Donate to charity? Buy new cars and houses? Invest for the future? Throw a humongous celebration party? Or do nothing?
  13. If you could be anyone else, who would you like to be? Famous person? Family member? Co-worker? Boss?
  14. How content are you? In your job? In your home? In your thoughts and dreams?
  15. If you could be anyone in all of recorded history, who would you be? Why?
  16. Name one small change that would delight and excite you. Why?
  17. Name one small change that might terrify you. Why?
  18. Where do you expect to be in twenty years? How do you think you got there?
  19. What event – small, personal or large, global – would challenge you and why?
  20. If you could change one thing in your life, in your work, in your home, even in your past, what would it be?
  21. Who do you think you are meant to be? A famous person? A rich person? A powerful person?
  22. List five qualities that help define you.
  23. List five things you would like to change if you had a fairy godmother.
  24. What’s something kind you can do for somebody else? Family, friend, co-worker, stranger?
  25. What’s something wonderful you can do for yourself? You deserve it!!
